Would you believe it? There is a floor in the Van Horne warehouse! I hadn’t seen it for several years. But after packing container #52 off to El Salvador Shalom clinic, there it was. We have now got our inventory down to less than one container. The plan is that when we have a container- full of stuff in our warehouse we will ship. Teri Benner the director of the Shalom Clinic said in her last email:
We have been hoping to start up in October, but being that we´re now in September and we´re still getting equipment shipped in,(from MEMO) it may be later. Once we have sufficient equipment and furnishings we will be able to apply for the operating permit and then open.We do not have any funds yet for equipment or supplies, as we have still been raising to finish some parts of the interior of the building which is inching along.Based on the fact that we do not have start-up funds for equipment and supplies, it is obvious that the Lord is a step ahead of us by the way that MEMO came into the picture at the right moment and has been able to provide for this need. This amazes me over and over. Thanks so much to our precious family in the Lord for your heart to serve and the huge blessing that you are to the Shalom Family Medical Center and the community.
Blessings, Teri
One problem of course is that each container costs us $9000 and we have borrowed the money for the last two. We hope to solve that problem at our Celebration Dinner at the Valhalla Ballroom Friday October 4th. Tickets are complimentary but necessary. Phone Shirley at 474-3974 for your ticket. Of 400 tickets only 50 are left so don’t leave it until they are all gone. Dr. Aurora Riera and her husband Armando will be present in person to share what MEMO is doing in Cuba. Dr. Tim Wollin will be sharing about setting up prostate surgery with MEMO’s help in Placetas and Sagua Hospitals.
Last week we had a letter from a Cuban official at last:
Dear Jerome:
Thank you for your message. We continue to work with the donations – right now we need to know at what date is scheduled ud. sending other containers this year for us to perform the formalities of documentation, for the next year in the whole process is directly colleagues in the province of Villa Clara.
Cheers for ud. and the rest of the organization
Dr Aldo
So we will again begin thinking of how best to help improve medical care in Villa Clara Province.
We need your prayers, your volunteering and your money ;)
Thanks
Jerome
