Container #108 Blessing to Cuba

Container #108 Blessing to Cuba

Hello MEMO supporters:

In the wake of Thanksgiving we have much to be thankful for.
What a successful day it was packing the latest container.
We are thankful that the rain didn’t last long.

  • thankful for a really great crew of helpers;
  • thankful that the packers did a superb job getting 1955 items into the container;
  • thankful for those who hauled boxes, moved equipment, loaded beds, called numbers, recorded numbers, and labelled items as necessary.
  • thankful for those who chipped in for whatever hours they had; as always when someone had to leave there were others able to stay on.
  • thankful for those who retrieved boxes and bags from our little warehouse;
  • thankful for the crew that retrieved mattresses previously stored at Grace Church, and to Gerry Erb for bringing one of the Erb trucks;
  • thankful to Grace Church for allowing us to store mattresses there.
  • thankful for all those who gave selflessly of their time this Saturday.
  • thankful for God’s hand over all; no injuries, safety on the highway for our driver, Brad.

We finished in 7 hours which is an excellent showing.

The container is now travelling by rail to Halifax. It should be placed on the MV Orinoco ready to set sail for Cuba October 30.

Pray that all details will fall into place and the ship will leave on time.
The neat thing about shipping to Cuba is the short time, five days, for a container to get to the port of Mariel. We pray the sailing is uneventful, arriving in time for early Christmas treat in November for the Cuban church community and medical support for hospitals and clinics.

With gratitude,
Tom Baxter
